When the rats are out beware

Great spirit I pray that the sun shines in the hearts of all
Who are about to embark on their journeys
That the warmth and light permeates every aspect of this day

The spirit of morning brings the medicine pouch
Each will get what they need inside to carry them through
The one common ingredient will be patience

And we are off.

COMMUTER RAT

The rats are at the starting gate, the race is about to begin.
By the looks of things it’s not hard to tell, that it’s Monday morning again.
The rats all leave their nests, without a minute to spare, scuffling through the traffic being less than fair.  As a rule it’s good to know, when the rats are out beware.
They run amuck every which way without a single care.  They run so hap-hazardly, you would think they’re out on a dare.
With no consideration for the other rats around, if you’re in their way they just as soon mow you down.
The rats believe they are the only ones, with a race to run. They never look back to see the results of the wrong that they have done.
Well all the rats have reached the places where they take their seats, for now the race is over, the highway is at peace.
You will not see the rats again until the clock strikes five. Then the race resumes and one can only hope that they get home alive.

The power to overcome or to sure come lies within our hands
Take the high ground
Use the medicine in your pouch. Don't be a Rat!

The day will close as each before
Grandmother speaks to the guardians of door
"Watch over my children in their tents and dreams
Keep them from harm and squelch the screams
Of their spirits as they find some peace, in the world of challenges that lies beneath
Escort  them on their journeys, through the cosmic realm
Bring them to the path, that keeps them well
Let them know that you are there
To keep them safe, to hold them dear"
