Great spirit I thank you for another day to be free
The morning has come to sing a song of freedom
The journey of spirit continues
Not today!
The journey of mind shall resume tomorrow
A good time to celebrate and enjoy family friends and festivities
Have a cannoli, get your Italian on.
The long weekend brings peace to the mind and to the spirit
On the third day the sunsets are more beautiful
For the eyes of peace see all in its fullest glory
The cloak of what sometimes can be an oppressive existence has been shed
The being, cleansed renewed and revitalized
Naked to the world as if reborn
ENJOY THE DAY

This day has many meanings to many people all are not in agreement
Nor do all see this day as a happy occasion
I want to share a part of my personal daily prayers with you
These are my feelings and not meant to influence or change any ones minds about this day
Or debate history and taint the moment with politics but I feel in my heart it is right.
Grandfathers and Grandmothers of Lenapehoking and of all of Turltle Island
In a humble way with good heart, I thank you for the honor and the privilege
To live upon your land, for sharing your wisdom, your songs, ceremonies
your medicine and sacred places.
For always watching over me, never treating me as a stranger, but as one of your children
